The 2nd East Africa Youth Parliament High-Level Seminar on Strategic Leadership & Governance 2025, held in Kisumu County
The 2nd East Africa Youth Parliament High-Level Seminar on Strategic Leadership & Governance 2025, held in Kisumu County, brought together a dynamic mix of leaders—both emerging and seasoned—to reflect on the future of governance in an increasingly digital world. It was an honour to participate in this important gathering and contribute to a collective conversation about the direction of leadership in East Africa.

Public service stands at the core of national development. Every policy implemented, every institution strengthened, and every reform championed begins with leadership that is committed to service. As a region with one of the world’s youngest populations, investing in the next generation of leaders is not just a priority—it is a necessity. By equipping young people with knowledge, mentorship, and platforms like the East Africa Youth Parliament, we secure dependable drivers of reform and transformation for our countries.
During the seminar, I had the privilege of sharing insights on leadership in the age of digital governments. Today’s leaders must navigate a rapidly changing landscape shaped by technology, innovation, and the demand for greater accountability. Digital transformation is no longer optional for public institutions; it is essential for improving service delivery, enhancing transparency, and increasing citizen participation. As such, youth leaders must be adaptive, visionary, and grounded in ethical leadership that leverages technology for public good.
One of the most valuable aspects of the seminar was the diversity of voices in the room. The program brought together youth delegates, representatives from State Departments, and leaders from Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies. This blend created a rich and constructive environment for dialogue, allowing participants to openly explore ideas, challenges, and opportunities for shaping the future of governance across the region.

As the East Africa Youth Parliament continues to amplify youth voices and build spaces for shared learning, events like this serve as powerful reminders of the potential that lies within our region’s young leaders. The conversations in Kisumu were more than discussions—they were seeds of transformation that will continue to grow as young people step forward to lead with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to service.
