Mission

The mission of this Policy is to create an enabling environment for effective youth participation and empowerment in developing and sustaining the East Africa Youth Parliament.

Objectives of the East Africa Youth Parliament

The East Africa Youth Parliament’s main objective is to harness the cumulative energies of Eastern Africa’s youth in continuous action directed at building a peaceful, equitable, prosperous and sustainable Country. We are keen to amplify the voices of young people and ensure the availability of accurate and up-to-date data on youth employment, unemployment, and underemployment to advise governments and the private sector on prioritization in National development programmes. We advocate for youth empowerment through different platforms including networking sessions, annual youth conferences and other advocacy engagements.

Key Objectives,

  • Mainstream youth issues in policies, laws and programmes at the parliament level;
  • Sensitize national and regional policymakers on the need to identify and mainstream youth issues in the development of the parliament;
  • Empower the youth to develop their potential, creativity and skills as productive and dynamic members of the parliament;
  • Ensure meaningful youth participation in political processes and peacebuilding for the political, social and economic stability of the East Africa Youth Parliament;
  • Ensure meaningful youth participation in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of national and regional development plans, policies and strategies.
